SOPHY 王 嘉儀

is a boundary-pushing independent singer-songwriter, artist, and music producer known for fusing Soul, Pop and Electronica across Cantonese and English. With a unique sound that blends experimental flair with pop sensibility, she creates emotionally resonant, genre-fluid work that moves between cultures and languages.

Since her debut EP Sophrology (2016), Sophy has emerged as a defining voice in Hong Kong’s music scene, which won her “Best New Artist” and “Best Singer-Songwriter” from Commercial Radio, RTHK, and TVB. Her next EP QUARTER (2018) earned a nomination at Taiwan’s 9th Golden Indie Music Awards (GIMA). Her first Mandarin mini-album Harsh (殘) (2019) was featured by Mixmag UK and Avyss Japan, and nominated for “Best Singer-Songwriter” and “Best Alternative Pop Album” at the 11th GIMA, alongside a Renaissance Music Award in 2020.

In 2023, she released FLUID (水性揚花), a trilingual conceptual album exploring identity, desire, and movement through PBR&B, jazz, and dance pop. As executive producer, she brought together leading Mandopop artists including HUSH, YELLOW, and Eve Ai etc. The album earned nominations at the 15th GIMA (Best R&B Song, Best Alternative Pop Album), and was named one of the “Top 10 Albums of the Year” by Singapore’s 17th FreshMusic Awards.

She followed up with her first solo concert Interstage 2024: SOPHY WONG at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in October 2024, featuring cross-disciplinary collaborations with emerging theatre and production talents.

In 2025, Sophy was named Spotify’s 2025 EQUAL Ambassador; and released Happy Together (春光), a collaborative album with Taiwanese electronic music producer Dizparity. A bright, groove-driven, and steeped in 90s disco music project launched with a live show at Portal Hong Kong.

SOPHY represents a new wave of Asian artistry: fiercely independent, sonically adventurous and unafraid to blur the lines between underground edge and mainstream appeal.

Opened for international acts such as Moonchild (US), Mina Okabe (DK) and Rhodes (UK), and performed at festivals including Clockenflap (HK), the Calling Music Festival (TW), Asia Rolling Music Festival (TW), Zandari Festa (KR); she also appeared as a guest performer for Dear Jane’s Pendulum Tour at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Beyond music, Sophy crosses into the realm of contemporary art.

In 2021, she collaborated with Asia Art Archive to co-create Connective Memories (留念) with lyricist Chow Yiu-Fai under his residency program.  As the composer, producer, and curator of all six original songs, she transformed archival materials into a multidisciplinary work blending pop music, visual art, and lyrics. The project featured a Special Display and live performance at Tai Kwun Contemporary in April 2021, marking a rare and bold fusion of independent music and contemporary art in Hong Kong.

In 2025, Wong launched Open Session with Eaton HK through her label SOSOS — a live dialogue and performance series spotlighting emerging artists and cross-disciplinary creators within Hong Kong’s independent scene.
